1.4 Kinetic Typography


For this class we had to communicate information about a font of our choice and make a short animation about it. This was pretty straight forward to do and did it with ease as I knew what I was going to do from the start in term of how it was going to appear and for how long.

1.5 alphabet


I had this done before I came to class because I spend 3 hours doing this over the Easter break so I just came in to see what people thought of it. I put a lot of time and efferent into making this alphabet and I even got it to animate.

Overall I am very glad how this came out even if it took 260 photographs and a bit of animating and photo shopping to get it looking right, I came out class and I might even make a better one over the summer.

1.4 Photoshop Creative Workflow


At the start of the class we had to import an image of a poppy into Photoshop. After we did we were taught they basic reasons why to use Photoshop and in what why.       

Image types

·         Tiff’s are good for quality and are compatibility with most software but are big in file size.

·         Psd means it’s an editable Photoshop document.

·         Jpeg’s are not transparent but they are small in size which means they are good for photography’s

·         Png’s are transparent but are a small but bigger than jpeg’s

·         Gif can only use 250 colours and are normally used for logos

Photoshop is best for

·         Being able Channel 8 bit images

·         Can easily Grayscale and Duotone an image and it great at marking correction to images of most kinds.   

After we when though they basics of why we than looked at how. We first looked at how to edit the colours of the image before you fully import it in to Photoshop, this makes it easier to change they colours and levels of the images.

We than look at using a .vpe to auto change they focus of the image without trying to do it manually which saves a lot of time.

Lastly we look at how to put make a wave in illustrator and put it in to Photoshop while still being connected to illustrator so that changes could be make.

1.5 alphabet


For this part of the task we had to draw three full alphabets from things related to our first class of doing this three weeks ago. I really like the idea of an alphabet that moved as you typed it in so went with the elements idea.

For my first one I did fire because an alphabet on fire is funny to say.

I than did one with bricks so that if I could not get it to move when I am doing they proper one this can be my back up

And then I did light because I thought that if I had enough time I could do the alphabet using light art photography but I’m not sure how I would get this to move so we’ll see.

How do we think about curtual diversity?

we watched night cries by tcacey moffattt today, it was about a young black women talking care of an old white women; this was to represent the feelings of having your last family member being a different race and different blood line.

later on we talked about narrative design and visual design in story's. we mostly talked about the structure of a normally story and than slowly relating it to ourselves by bring in the 22 Pixar rules that they follow to make all there animations.
lastly we got reminded about are hand in for our next project which in next Thursday and the file limit is 200mb's.
and also don't forget to put your name on it.

1.4 alphabet


For are next drawing task from john we get to start an alphabet. The first class is only the first five letters but it is hard to draw an alphabet related to animation. I ended drawing zombies, characters from a game call “plants VS zombies” and I draw the last set of five letters on elements such as five ice .e.c.t.

design and emotion

Today we are learning about the boh house, a lot of this I knew before and it is very graphic based and it is not that interesting for an animator.

we had a new guy talking they lector, his name is professor Alex. Alex is talking clear but he seems to sop talking after each sentence and says some words mutable times which feels like he is talking to 12 years olds.

later on today we had a design and emotion  lesion we watched very interesting videos about our senses. 

For our last class we had to make a one object turn into another with only 9 frames altogether. pretty easy for an animator to do.

New to blooger and back tracking

So blogging is like checking your email or washing your clouthes or even checking your phone of messages; it's a habit but it's a habit that you have to start to get into and onece you do you might never stop which in this case is a good thing.
so I will be back tracking the last few weeks and then share some personal projects that I am working as well as some stuff I am planing on doing. than hopefuly I will can keep up to date with blogger.

Also I do need to add images that I have took to each that I have but I will leave that ontill I get up to date.

1.3 Interactive InDesign process


For this class we looked at how to make an interactive pdf using InDesign. They main things we learned in this class were how to make any object a button which is very useful if I ever use interactive pdf’s in the future. We also learned how to imbed a video to the sides so it was a productive lesion.

Future genealogies recap (week 6)

To day we went more into the word Genealogie in genral and brock it down in simpler terms sure as refering it to a point of view and just shorting it to alogie. alogie is the knowleage of something; so a methodalogie is the method or way of doing something and the knowleage of that method.

I leraned a way of thinking of a fabrication is to think of it as gray; in between black and white, good and evil e.c.t.
I learned a lot of big words this class sure as preconceivea, eternal truth and phomnom. I do need to look more in to some of these as I only partly understand them but it's a start.

1.3 object Drawing Exercise


I sadly missed this class but I still did the task, for it I had to draw objects so I choice to do small objects as I need to get used to drawing different sizes and how they look from a certain perspective. I draw a rubber a sharpener and a drink can, I picked these for a certain reason, for the rubber it was the fact that it had different types of black and white so I could try a shading technique that I used to do ages ago but I stooped drawing as much when I stared university. For the sharpener it was just the fact that I don’t like drawing pointy objects and wanted to try again (I can’t draw anime hair) and lastly I picked the can because of how big it is compared to the other objects I did and I was still trying to get better at drawing big objects.

Overall I think I’m getting better a drawing big things and I need to draw more in my spare time if I ever want to be good at making my own characters.

1.3 Speed and Motion


For this class we had to make a short animation to show that we can animate movement in after effects. We had to make the model in illustrator, I choice to use a robot I made last year and add wings to it, I also made fire to come out of the wings. It was an easy class for me so I ended up finishing half way through the class and going around to help other people.

I made the robot put on its helmet and then spread its wings before taking off and flying off screen to the right (or its left). When I got home I tried to open up the file again and it was corrupted, I looked around they folder and I noticed that everything from the auto saves to the resources and the exports were also corrupted, the only things that weren’t was the first screen shot, a background I used, a log of my export and the first auto save which was useless because they illustrator file had been corrupted.

1.2 InDesign process


In this class we were told to try and get as close to the example poster as possible, for the most part it wasn’t that hard it was just time consuming trying to find the right font for each set of letters and rearranging them to the perfect place apart from each other.

After we did that we were showed how to add vectors into the text itself which can be used for stuff like full stops which could make a document more interesting to look at.

At the end we set up a few different clones of the first double page spread so we could edit the pictures on each of them to see which looked better.

Overview (week 5)

Today was just a recap day were we went over all they things that we have done (brielfy) and they things we need to be doing such as this blog and skecth book.
It was kind of a brief class but I am glad that I get reminded of things that I need to do; I normally make a to-do-list to keep myself orginised but I have't flet like making one reculty and I make them craetive so they normally ttake a few hours to make.

week 4 trip (23rd oct friday)

Today we went on a class trip to the ysp centre. when we first got off the bus I looked around and all I saw was a building and a field, when we were told to walk around at first I was puzzled cause I saw next to nothing to walk to other than they one building, after I when in and looked around I found myself near a small staircase leading to a few pieces of art work out side. the more I walk the more I found that there was about a mile or two of ground that had art work randomly placed everywhere I could see. I did not feel that much of the sculptures were very interesting to me personally,

My whole thought about art sculptures is that it does not matter what it is; if someone says that it means something then its good, if someone did the same thing but just did it because they were messing around or what not; it does not even get a second glance. In other wards art sculptures are what you say they are; not what it looks like or feels like or are any good looking to people that don't know why it's there!

I did see a lot of very nice textures that I got lots of pictures of and I found so interesting quotes there too.

I saw a tree on the ground when I was walking in the forest that had lots of coins in it that were all bended sidewards, I did not understand why and I could not find any writing anywhere near it, maybe it was an art work or maybe it was something else; all I know is that it was different than anything that I have ever seen before.

Overall I did enjoy the trip, I got a few good pictures and I do enjoy a good walk to relax.

1.2 Interior Space Drawing Exercise



In the second task we had to draw interior designs from inside the university and I used this time to draw two pictures, one from the second last floor which I have lost the picture (but it did not come out very well as I’m not very good at drawing distances and heights so the objects that were close up looked the same size as the ones at the other end of the floor) the other drawing I did was of a huge window in room Caa2/01 ( I think that’s the number of john’s room) and it was very difficult to draw because of how big it was, I thought it came out all right but I’m still not any good at drawing big pictures.



Overall it was a good exercise and I do need to do more of this kind of stuff in the close future if I want to be able to draw backgrounds for my animations.

Convergence (week 4)

we learned about Convergences today and it was quite interisting.
we first talked about how a convergence is just two different things crossing or joining each other.
than we talked about cubitt banding which is poeple playing with toys and making music with them.
after that we did some experamentating using a method called the cut up method, It's where you get  few peices of paper that have text on it and cut them up and try to make new words and sentencses.

It was a very interesring method and I think it's a great idea if you get stuck on a name of a book or charictor name which I do a lot, so I will use this again.

The third studiio (16th oct friday)

I had a good few ideas for today and I talked to one of the lectures and they said that I had very good ideas but with the ones I had I should not try and do them fully; I should just plan them and show how I could of done them if I had more resources and time which I fully understood.
At the group meeting I got told to do more experimentation so after that class I wake up early they next morning and took pictures of out side they train station for an hour to experiment with movement of people, time of day and cars/buses that went by.

1.2 Edited Promo


We were given a brief three weeks before this class and we needed to get resources before the class started for the project, I however got bored and almost finished the project before I went in to class to I just did I few finishing touches and I was done.

The task was to make an animation for an event that was coming up, this was to be a teaser trailer for the event to let people know when it was coming. I have had a lot of effect affects practice in the past as it is my favourite program to use so this project was not going to be hard or long for me unless I made hard; which I did, I wanted to try I method that I hadn’t used before, to draw all the images mutable times and to keep switching between them to make them look in motion all the time and to create a rough drawing style.

I also recorded they whole process via a screen casting app on the computer but I am unsure what to do with them as they are a total of 8 hours long.

second studio (friday 9th oct)

I have a few ideas ready from the last week of studding grids,frames and macro and micro that I planed to talk about in the the group meeting we have at the end of each class, I got to talk about the grid idea but there was not enough time to talk about all of them.
I did some research in the class about people, movement and navigation , I got useful information about navigation and the ways it can be used so it won't be hard to think of an idea for it.

1.1 CC Process


For our first class in InDesign we were just learning the basics of the program and what it can do. I used InDesign before and other than documents or books I would never use it for anything else. We were told at the start of the class that if some of us already knew how to use it then we could start they end task; so I did. I only did one of them as and I did not see much use in using this program for posters and I would much rather use Photoshop for this kind of stuff in the future.

Approaches to Research (week 2)

In this class we had to write out 10 questions to guess a object that someone else was thinking and than ask them. most of use got the wrong anwser because did not ask the right questions so we did not even get close most of the time.
This was to show usdifferent ways of going about a research task by think outside 10 questions and by going belond.
It was quite a fun class and it has made me think differently.

Future Genealogies (week one)

In this class we got in to groups and did a example of a future Genealogie, we choice to do "no electricity" as there is a lot to talk about.
we manely talk about how the price of paper would increase and the need for hand made crafts would drive up the job rate.
This task was good as we leared how to use future Genealogies which I feel will be very important in the short future and I know I will use it.

First studio class (friday 2 nd oct)

This was the first studio so it was just about the brief. I did not think that the would chance it much from last year but it is a lot easier to understand and they chanced the name from "city in flux" to "sense of place".
I like the way that it also gets you to focus on different topics each week; that was a good addition.    for most of the class I was just doing some research to see if I could find all the work I did last year and to arrange it. luckly I fould most of it but sadly I did not understand the brilef as well as I do this one; so I did not have too much done for it.

1.1 location drawing exercise


In the first part of john’s three part drawing task we were outside drawing different buildings, signs trees and whatever else we pretty much choice to draw. We were spilt into three groups and sent to three different place around town, after an hour we switched so that we could have a variety of things to draw.

I mainly focused on drawing grids of buildings and signs as I like drawing typography and grids are something that I am not used to and I needed they practice.

Overall they first task was nice as we got to go outside and draw what we wanted.
